This does apply to children over 12 months but seems to revolve around children that breastfeed. By one year of age both of my children were off the bottle and were exclusively drinking from sippy cups. So for me this article really isn't going to help. This will help a select group of people though and the information provided may very well help those people get their children to sleep longer and thus helping the parents sleep longer.
This page isn't at all practical information for every family. Rather, it's mainly for those who sleep in a "family bed," and who plan to breastfeed longer than one year. An interesting read, but I didn't find it practical at all. It was opinionated, if anything.
